Artist biography

FIELD RECORD / HC

Hannah Crabtree is a collage artist based in Falls Church, Virginia. She builds invented landscapes from vintage photographs, maps, scientific diagrams, and fragments of discarded print.

Her work considers how people locate themselves inside unstable environments and how paper archives preserve, distort, or invent place. Images collected from incompatible sources are cut apart and reorganized into geographies that feel documented but cannot be visited.

Her creative studio, Lost Ledgers, is the home for this portfolio and the broader publishing, exhibition, and archival life of the work.

Impossible Field Notes is the current working body: a sequence of damaged signals, small witnesses, constructed thresholds, and field records from places that do not exist.
